As stated earlier, currently the Club fields a First team that plays in the Two Counties Division Eight. The First team is a decent blend of experienced players and up and coming youth players. Many of the new crop have come through the youth system at Nowton and this mix is set to continue. Last season the first team gained automatic promotion from Division 9 by finishing 2nd, 1 point adrift of the winners, although the league subsequently restructured the leagues.
Our Second team and Academy team both compete in the Harpers Sports League (Divisions Three and Fourrespectfully). The Second team also strive to compete at a commended level which feeds the First team with new blood and also gives the fringe players a chance to shine.
The Academy had their best season to date as they gained their first promotion from Division 5 to Division 4. They will strive to continue to develop players and have now had countless players play for the first team and long may this continue.
We have a vibrant, ever growing youth system which is the future of Nowton Cricket Club. Our youth system has given us the opportunity to bring the club forward to the next level and generate the crop of players to carry on the upward movement of the teams. Parents of both our male and female youth members can be satisfied in the way in which their children are taught to enjoy the game of cricket within the traditional cricket surroundings which brings that important ‘family feel’. We run junior sides at U15, U13 and U11 age groups. All these teams compete with the local West Suffolk sides in midweek leagues and we are forever looking for new talent and players who wish to join in.
We would welcome new players of any age. On this website are links to coaches and captains with mobile numbers and email addresses so please do not hesitate to contact us. As mentioned above it is easy to register on the website and there are links to club clothing too.
For any queries relating to the club, website or new players wanting to play please feel free to contact Henry Desch on 07958 519 188.
